AquaTRAIN Workshop 8, BRGM, Orléans July 5th – 10th 2010

Geogenic chemicals in groundwaters and soils :
speciation, biogeochemistry, remediation and policy implications

On behalf of the AquaTRAIN Marie-Curie Research Training Network, we would like to invite you to attend our final workshop on “Geogenic Chemicals in Groundwaters and Soils” to be held at the BRGM in Orléans, France on July 8th and 9th 2010.

The objectives of this international conference, incorporating the final AquaTRAIN workshop, are:

(i) to present state-of-the-art developments in all the aspects of geogenic chemicals in groundwaters and soils – speciation, occurrence, remediation and implications for policy
(ii) enable exchange of ideas between European and non-European based researchers, for example to see the potential applications of remediation, mapping, microbiological and speciation methods developed in Europe to other areas, and equally to explore how studies of highly impacted aquifers in Asia can inform studies in Europe
(iii) identify key research questions and objectives and explore potential for collaborative research to address these objectives

More details on the events and on the precise programme will be sent at a date closer to the event.

Speakers are already invited to provide keynote lectures for AquaTRAIN Workshop covering all the aspects of geogenic chemicals in groundwaters and soils – speciation, occurrence, remediation and implications for policy. There are also a number of further speaking slots for AquaTRAIN and external speakers and poster sessions will be an important part of the workshop. If you want to submit an abstract for a poster or oral presentation, then please follow the abstract template (attached file). Abstracts may not exceed one A4 page in length including references, tables and/or figures.

The deadline for abstract submission is May 10th 2010.
Presenting authors will be notified of acceptance of abstracts by May 24th 2010.

In addition, there will be the following evening social events:
Conference Icebreaker: Wednesday 7th July 2010
